The nose initially has a BBQ smoky component, lemon salt, bacon, ash, sea air, liquorice, toasted bread. With water added it becomes softer, fresh coastal notes, seaweed.
Leathery, honeyed sweetness, toasted seeded bread, white pepper, all spice, clove lemon drops. With water added - faint grassy - ashy tones, elegant, fresh fennel seed with a green pepper note.
Medium - Long, smoked meats, light but full bodied, well balanced, charred lemon skin, oatcakes.
Clanyard: Caol Ila 10 Year Old
This is the first chapter (1/11) of Fable Whisky's epic tale, the Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay. It represents the town of Clanyard Bay, perched upon a cliff on Scotland's wild southwest corner. It is embodied by the Caol Ila 10 year old, a classic islander that perfectly portrays the rugged maritime feel of Clanyard Bay.
This 10 year old Caol Ila hoggy was bottled at a cask strength ABV of 57.3%, with zero chill filtration and no added colour... just the way we like it!
The smokey, sea spray profile of this island malt is a perfect portrayal of Clanyard Bay... and a damn good dram indeed!
